Honda Develops New Compact SUV

Sport Utility Vehicles are big here in the United States. That's something that we here at Rancho Santa Margarita Honda know for a fact. We're not talking about their size either; we're talking about their appeal. And as gas prices continue to rise, automakers like Honda are doing everything in their power to increase their efficiency and appeal to consumers around the world.

The current SUV/CUV lineup from Honda features models like the Pilot, CR-V, and Crosstour, each of which belong to a different segment. But now, Honda is looking to reach out to those who yearn for an even smaller crossover utility vehicle than the Crosstour, and they plan to approach its design in a similar fashion.

See, the Honda Crosstour actually started out as a spinoff model of the Honda Accord. Known as the Accord Crosstour for some years, the model has finally come into its own right as a hatchback/crossover, which appeals to a wide range of drivers. The next step? Honda plans to do something similar to the Civic.

We know, we know, the Civic is a compact. But mind you, this is meant to be a compact crossover. That means that rather than aiming for off-road capabilities and raw power, Honda is merely looking to provide drivers who value efficiency with more cargo room and greater ground clearance. In other words, they're looking to match some of the more reliable traits of an SUV with the must-have ones of a compact model. And isn't that exactly what a crossover is supposed to accomplish?

Either way, you can count on the automotive fanatics here at 29961 Santa Margarita Parkway Rancho Santa Margarita, CA 92688 to keep you updated on the progress of this exciting new model.
