Should You Inspect or Replace Your Tires?

Car owners know how important tires are to the safety and functionality of their car, but how do you know when it is time to replace them? Below are some ways to check and see if your car tires need to be replaced:

  • Tire Warning Light - Most newer model vehicles are equipped with warning lights to let you know when something needs to be serviced. If the tire warning light comes on, then it is time to have your tires checked and maybe even replaced.
  • Tire Tread - Tire treads are one of the most important features of the tire, as it is what gives your vehicle traction. If you notice your vehicle slipping or sliding while driving, it can be an indication that your tire's tread is worn. You can check tire tread wear by placing a penny upside down in the tread; if you can see all of President Lincoln’s head, then your tires need to be replaced.
  • Noise - If you notice your tires making strange noises like squeaking, thumping, or whining, then this could indicate that the tires are worn and need to be replaced.

At Rancho Santa Margarita Honda, we understand that safety is important to car owners, so if you have any questions about your tires and if you should replace your tires, come visit our service bay and speak with one of our mechanics.
