Do You Like Stopping Your Car? Thank Your Brake Pads

The brakes on your car, truck, or SUV are of critical importance to your overall safety, so you will want to keep them in good working order. And since they perform such a heavy-duty function, you will naturally see some pretty severe wear and tear over time, especially with your brake pads. When it comes time to replace your brake pads, it is a good idea to have a basic understanding of how the system works together and why the pads are so important.

When you step on the brake pedal, the master cylinder forces brake fluid through the system. This causes the calipers to compress, which is where the pads are held. That compression causes the pads to make contact with the spinning rotors and squeeze them. The friction that results is what causes your vehicle to slow to a stop.

If you think that your vehicle is in need of new brake pads, then bring it in to our service department here at Rancho Santa Margarita Honda.
