Timeline For Your Lease Return

When your lease is coming to the end your options are essentially to lease another Honda, buy another Honda, buy your Honda, return your Honda, or we buy your vehicle. We recommend starting your research process for your options 3-6 months in advance to have the very best experience on your lease return. The extended timeline gives you the freedom to explore your vehicle options.

6 Months From End of Lease

3 Months From End of Lease

  1. Schedule test drive of models you like
  2. Discuss end of lease options with Rancho Santa Margarita Honda
  3. Familiarize yourself with end of lease material, such as Excessive Wear-and-Use Waiver

One Week From End of Lease

  1. Contact Rancho Santa Margarita Honda and schedule your lease return on the end date or before
  2. Lease new vehicle, buy your current vehicle, turn in your lease, or let us buy your vehicle

The option you choose will have been planned during your test drive period in the 3 month mark, which will alleviate any questions or concerns at the end of your lease. This introduction stage is vitally important, and we look forward to working with you on your Honda lease return.

What You Will Need At Lease Return

  • All keys to the vehicle
  • Owner’s Manual and maintenance records
  • Vehicle Return Receipt
  • Vehicle Inspection Report
  • Receipts for completed repairs

After You Turn Your Vehicle In

Contact the Lease Maturity Center at 800-708-6555 to inform Honda that you have returned your vehicle. If all payments have been made, your call will initate the completion process for your lease account, and you will no longer receive a regular monthly billing statement. If you have any payments remaining on your account, you are responsible for those payments. If you return your vehicle to a non-Honda retailer that has agreed to make the final payments, follow up with them to ensure those payments are made on time. If any end-of-term liabilities apply, these items will be billed at a later time.
